Local artist 'Cordial Draws' attending the launch of our first Youth-Led Market Stall at Parap to do some live drawing!
Rite 2 Rise Youth-Led Enterprises is a social enterprise program run by Rite 2 Rise that gives disadvantaged young people real-world experience in business, creativity, and employment through two market stalls at Parap Village Markets and Mindil Beach Sunset Markets.
At Parap Village Markets (Saturdays, year-round), young people run a youth-led op shop and facilitate free creative workshops for community members. At Mindil Beach Sunset Markets (Thursdays, dry season), youth participants collect 10c containers, sort and clean bottle caps, and use our mobile recycling machinery to turn waste plastic into handcrafted products — from yo-yo's to soap dishes — which are sold directly at the market.
Both stalls are run as real-world enterprises. Young people manage stock, handle transactions, build customer relationships, design and create products, and learn the full cycle of how a small business operates — from waste collection to finished product to sale.
All profits from both market stalls go directly into employing young people, most of whom have never held a paid job before. This creates a mentorship pipeline where today's participants become tomorrow's paid facilitators and mentors for the next cohort.
The program prioritises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, refugee and migrant youth, young people living with disability, and those disengaged from school or employment. Participants are supported with free workshops, materials, mentoring, transport assistance, and a safe, inclusive environment to build confidence, skills, and income.
Rite 2 Rise is a Social Traders certified social enterprise, meaning at least 50% of revenue is reinvested into social causes.
Come visit our stalls at Parap on Saturdays or Mindil on Thursdays during dry season — meet the young people, see the recycling process in action, and support local youth creating a better future.
